DAIYON KPOU

CORRESPONDING SECRETARY

With over eight years of experience in public health and urban planning, Daiyon enjoys work that improves how we all participate in our society. After graduating from Penn State University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Bachelor of Arts in African Studies, and a minor in French Studies, she embarked on a journey spanning internships in HIV prevention, environmental protection, and infectious disease prevention. Daiyon became passionate about urban planning and transportation when she began working for the city in 2019.

While working in the Mayor's Office up until 2022, she recognized how all of our core public services overlap to create the foundation of our society. She is fascinated by the complex systems that keep Philadelphia moving and is committed to supporting organizations that make these systems equitable for all.

In her current position in the City's Office of Transportation, Infrastructure, and Sustainability (OTIS), she collaborates with stakeholders - from civil engineers to City Councilmembers - to protect the structures that uphold neighborhood safety. Daiyon reconstructs imminently dangerous retaining walls shared by property owners along designated Philadelphia blocks. She manages a $6 million budget for three active projects within a total $26 million allotment and leads complex strategies that improve efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction.
