2024 Scholarship Program
The Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) Philadelphia Chapter offers multiple scholarships to deserving minority students who reside in the Philadelphia Region who have a career interest in the transportation industry and related fields.
The Scholarship Program supports the mission of COMTO by promoting, strengthening, and expanding the roles of minorities in all aspects of transportation.
Eligibility Requirements
Any student who lives in PA, NJ or DE and who is currently a senior in high school or enrolled full time in a college, university or trade school may apply to this scholarship. This includes both undergraduate and graduate studies. Note that to qualify, the applicant must be able to provide proof that they will be enrolled full time for the Fall 2024/Spring 2025 school year upon selection.
Application Guidelines and Instructions
The Scholarship Program application will be completely online. All applicants will be required to complete the Google Form here and email their letters of recommendation, essay response and proof of GPA (not required) to comtophillystudentoutreach@gmail.com using the subject line “LAST NAME, FIRST NAME 2024 COMTO Scholarship Application.” The email containing the additional application materials must be sent immediately after the Google Form is submitted. Applications must be received by 11:59 PM on April 26th, 2024.
Scholarship Award Process
Selection of recipients for COMTO Philadelphia Scholarships will be made by the COMTO Philadelphia Scholarship Committee. Scoring will be based on the completed Google Form, letters of recommendation, essay response and proof of GPA. Additional points will be rewarded to those who answer the non-required questions in the Google Form. For the letters of recommendation, students may ask recommenders to use the form provided in the “Letter of Recommendation” page.
Recipients of the awards will be notified on or before Monday, May 10 2024. Awardees will be required to submit a headshot photo, proof of citizenship (please contact the Assistant Treasurer if this cannot be easily obtained) as well as an acceptance video to be included in any announcement by COMTO National or COMTO Philadelphia by Friday, May 24th, 2024. In addition, scholarship winners will be expected to attend the Scholarship Awards Luncheon to be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at The Notary Hotel in Philadelphia, PA.
