CARRIE GIVHAN

PRESIDENT

Carrie Givhan is the Safety Training Program Specialist at SEPTA, managing the Safety Training Contract for the Authority to help essential transportation workers perform their jobs safely. Carrie specializes in collaborative efforts at work and within her community to achieve equity. Carrie was the inaugural President for SEPTA’s Diversity, Equity and Belonging (DEB) Council, has served as past COMTO Philadelphia Secretary, and currently represents her community as the Ward 4-1 Committee Person in Lower Moreland Township for the Montgomery County Democratic Committee.

Carrie has a strong public service background having volunteered for the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office Youth Aid Panel Program; serves as a Poll Volunteer at Pine Road Elementary School; and has served on the Huntingdon Valley Library’s Strategic Planning Committee. Carrie has a longstanding history of deep community involvement including working as an advocate for older adults at the Center for Advocacy for the Rights and Interest of the Elderly and has previously worked with at-risk youth in the non-profit sector. Carrie’s first position at SEPTA12 years ago was working as an Eligibility Advocate, making determinations, and serving older adult riders and people with disabilities in the Paratransit program.

Carrie is a working mother, is committed to her community, and is a leader with expertise in implementing equitable strategies. Carrie has demonstrated collaborative abilities and has experience in achieving goals within diverse workgroups. Carrie will leverage her role within SEPTA to build a bridge that further expands the relationship with COMTO Philadelphia.
